With the introduction of The Nationwide Debt Direct Scholarship, the debt settlement company hopes to help students as they seek to secure their academic future without causing unnecessary harm to their financial future.

According to Nationwide Debt Direct’s CEO, Peter Jacoves, recent student loan debt statistics served as part of the inspiration for adding a new academic scholarship to the company’s giving program.

The Nationwide Debt Direct Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors as well as those currently attending an accredited college or university in the United States. To be eligible for the scholarship, high school students must be scheduled to graduate at the close of the upcoming academic year and should be able to provide proof of acceptance to an accredited college or university in the US; college students, excluding those who have reached their senior year, must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university in the US.

The scholarship, which features a submission deadline of May 1, 2018, is also limited to United States citizens from any of the 50 states and the District of Columbia. Students who meet the eligibility requirements can apply for the scholarship via the online form found at nationwidedebtdirectgiving.com. In addition to the digital application, students are also expected to submit a brief essay of no more than 500 words in response to the following essay prompt: “How do you plan to keep your student loan debt to a minimum?”

Following the May 1, 2018 deadline, the Nationwide Debt Direct Scholarship Committee will meet to discuss the applicants and their essays for the purpose of selecting the scholarship winner prior to May 30, 2018. The $1,000 Nationwide Debt Direct Scholarship will then be awarded to the winner by the end of June, 2018.
